Hugh Michael Jackman was born on October 12, 1968, Hugh

Jackman started his acting career on stage, appearing in many Melbourne musicals and

later he won a Tony Award for a role as Peter Allen in “The Boy from Oz”. Jackman has

also won international recognition for a role as superheroes and most popular as

Wolverine in the X-Men Hollywood series and as well as parts in such films as  Van

Helsing, Kate & Leopold, Les Miserables and The Prestige. He was also selected for People

magazine "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2008.

 Youngest of five children Jackman was 8 when his mother left the family. He attended the

exclusive Knox Grammar School and he enrolled the University of Technology which is in

Sydney. He got his first chance of professional acting on the stage and appearing in several

Jackman is mainly best known for the role of Wolverine in the American film X-Men in

2000. Other early films include like Swordfish in 2001, Kate and Leopold in 2001 and Van

Helsing in 2004. In 2004 he won a Tony Award for lead role in Broadway The Boy from Oz

(2003-2004) and after few years he won an Emmy Award in 2005.


In 2006, Hugh Jackman gave his voice to two animated films ‘Flushed Away’ and ‘Happy

Feet’. He also did some work on the small screen as well appearing in the short lived

musical series Viva Laughlin in 2007. His 2008 thriller Deception, failed to make much

impression on the movie going public and earning only $4.6 million at the box office.

After that year, Hugh Jackman did highly anticipated work with his fellow Australians

Nicole Kidman and Baz Luhrmann was released. The film received mixed reviews and was

a box office disappointment.
